Answers to important Oasis Summer Day Camp questions

Thanks for your interest in Oasis Summer Day Camp!  Below are some commonly asked questions we have been asked over the years.  We hope you find them helpful as you plan your summer schedule.

1. What are your tuition costs?

The first camper's tuition is $515 a week.  Each additional camper is $495 a week. CIT’s rate is $415. We offer an early-bird rate through January that discounts tuition by $20 dollars for each camper. Register for the entire 9 weeks and we'll reduce each week by another $20.

2. When is drop-off and pick-up?

Campers can be dropped-off between 8:00-9:00. Campers can be picked up at the end of the day between 3:30-5:00. These flexible, extended hours are included in your tuition. Your campus location is determined during registration. Camp programming is from 9:00-3:30 every day.

3. Tell me about your schedule.

Our schedule is action-packed. On Tuesdays and Fridays we swim at our private Lake Oasis or visit water parks. On Wednesdays we are on an adventure-filled field trip.  Some of our field trips have been to museums, Cubs games, Great America, arcades, ice rinks, and more.  Finally, Mondays and Thursdays are spent at our Highwood campus participating in enrichment classes and free-choice activities or events like LEGO S.T.E.M. rotations, sports, games, competitions or special events.

4. There is a lot going on at Oasis.  How do you communicate with parents?

Facebook and Instagram accounts are updated often.  Additionally, a daily email reminder informs parents about camp news, what to pack for tomorrow and what is on the schedule.  Some families, who are nervous about camp are able to text/email for a more personal message which often includes a photo of their camper in action.

5. Are you at camp everyday?

As the owners and parents of participants we are at camp having fun!

6. How do you group campers?

We group campers according to age, gender and friendship requests.  Your child's group does not prohibit him/her from interacting with anyone at Oasis.  One of the great features about our summer camp is the socializing everyone does with each other.

7. Do I need to pack lunch everyday?

Yes please! Everyday it is important to also bring a water bottle. Drinking fountains with cold water are available daily. Forgotten lunches happen! We will be able to provide lunch when this occurs and a $20 dollar fee will be charged to cover the coordinating and payment of the lunch.

8. What about H20asis swim safety?

Spending two days a week at a water park or beach is such fun for our campers, but ensuring it is safe fun is our top priority. Many parents of young children express concerns about swim days at summer camp. As parents of young ones, we understand how frightening it can be to trust others to supervise your child around water. For that reason we’d like to provide a little more information about how water safety is accomplished at Oasis Summer Day Camp.

When visiting pools their trained staff do a swim test to determine campers level of ability and access to water. Our counselors are also spaced at “stations” throughout the beach or park to provide an additional layer of protection. Each station is an area of the swim park that is visible and close enough to get to quickly; with our low camper-to-staff ratio we are able to cover the entire space. Counselors are assigned to stations throughout the day and rotate during designated times to provide continual supervision. Each counselor is CPR certified.

For the campers who are identified as being a “non” or “beginner” swimmer, or are just not comfortable around water, we require them to wear provided swim vests. At water parks they are easily identified by a special wristband as well. We have many campers each year who wear swim vests so there is no concern about them “sticking out” or being ostracized. These are also campers who naturally become better swimmers during the summer and can be swim tested at any time to show that there is no longer a need for a vest.

At Oasis Summer Day Camp we are always attempting to provide the most fun and enriching experiences for our campers. At the same time we always pursue a high level of safety in every activity. Please know that we will not compromise on water safety at a parents request. What works at home does not dictate what works in a large group. Camper safety is paramount.
